James Clark Ross

James Clark Ross was an explorer. He led an expedition around Antarctica where he charted much of the coastline.

  1. I researched more on James Clark Ross and I found that in 1839 he sailed as a commander to the Artic, in a ship called the Erebus. James had been to the Artic many times before this journey, so he knew exactly what he needed for his crew. Food was the most important thing on a journey like his, so they made sure to bring extra meat, vegetables, soup, etc. A healthy and well-fed crew leads to a better voyage. Everyone heard about his embark off to the Artic, and his friend Frances Crozier was eager to go along with him. He commanded a ship called the Terror and both of them went off to the Artic together.
