The Influence of The Holy Roman Empire

Due the fact that during the 1500's almost all of the Europe consisted of the Holy Roman Empire and a lot of the the nations in Europe where Christian, I thought I would talk about the influence of this empire upon the citizens of Europe. After the bubonic plague struck all of Europe, they looked for an answer to their problems. They wanted a way to be cured and instead of looking towards science, they turned to Christianity. This is when Christianity as a religion really hits it peaks because at the worst of times, people need a relief, and this was religion for them.
Christianity also helped develop the culture all across Europe. Giant churches and various monuments were built all across Europe, and these structures would enhance the culture drastically. The people of Europe could feel a sense of community knowing that everyone helped build that great structure and everyone believes in what the building stands for. Also Christianity helped build universities such as Oxford, and with these universities citizens could go there to enhance their knowledge and build on the atmosphere within their community. Christianity gave the people of Europe a chance to better themselves and their culture.
Christianity then became the official religion of the most powerful nations in Europe and had a lot of power within these nations. In our constitution it states to separate state and religion, but during the 1500's and early in Europe the mixed the two. Religious leaders would often have a say in where a nation should send its army and Christianity and the Pope ordered the Crusades in the early 11th century and hundreds of thousands of people died over this order from the holiest man on earth. I think this shows how much power Christianity as a religion had within the states of Europe and Europe all together. Christianity would continue to be the dominant religion in Europe and still continues to be the primary religion.
